I am a British, qualified secondary school teacher offering Spanish/English language tuition. I have over twenty-five years of teaching experience, lived in Spain for sixteen years, am fluent in Castilian Spanish and expert in Spanish grammar. I teach all levels: primary, secondary, A level, degree level, Spanish for adults and English for Spanish students. I have taught a vast range of age groups, from 2 to 81 years, and all abilities. I achieved a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education in 2017 so am very well acquainted with both the previous and the new Modern Foreign Languages curriculum requirements for KS3, GCSE and A level.

I understand perfectly what mistakes are likely to be made & why by both English and Spanish pupils, due to my extensive knowledge of both languages. Furthermore, I have in-depth knowledge of the Spanish culture, people & traditions, which I incorporate into my tutoring. I am friendly with a sense of humour & am able to adapt easily to the learning abilities, preferences & pace of each individual. I always make sure my students feel relaxed & constantly encourage them & ensure they feel motivated. This helps with confidence issues & aids progress. I have been complimented many times on how clearly I explain everything & how simple I make the most challenging grammar point. Furthermore, I am friendly, positive and very patient.

I am passionate about teaching, languages and the written word and I know this comes across in my classes. I have found that my students always make fast progress, whatever their level, & many have commented on how quickly & easily they have learnt the language with me compared to classes with other teachers. I believe that good teaching is not just about having extensive knowledge of a subject; it is how the teacher is able to convey that information across to the pupil. I have been able to prove that I am capable of doing this due to the continuous success rate of my pupils & their satisfaction with my teaching. I have helped numerous D-grade pupils to achieve an A/A* at GCSE & have many positive references from satisfied ex-pupils & parents. I know exactly what it feels like to be a language learner and know what communication problems one can face in a foreign country, having had to do so myself in Spain and France, and I believe this valuable experience and the knowledge I have gained over the years contribute greatly to my teaching abilities and understanding of students' needs, whatever they may be. I have a wealth of knowledge & experience to share & I want to help as many people as possible to speak a language that they enjoyed learning & which they feel confident using.

I also really enjoy creating Spanish teaching resources. I am only too aware of how time-consuming lesson preparation can be and would love to be able to share the many resources I have created over the years with other Spanish teachers in the hope that I may make their job a little easier by providing them with lesson material. My teaching resources are available in my Payhip store.
